Court Temporarily Reinstates Trump's Import Tariffs, Overturns Blockade

The U.S. Court of Appeals has temporarily suspended the blockade on President Trump's import tariffs. A federal judge had previously ruled that Trump exceeded his authority and blocked the tariffs. The decision has now been reversed pending an appeal.

The Court of Appeals stated that lifting the blockade is 'necessary for the national security of the country.' Trump aims to impose tariffs under a 1977 economic emergency law, arguing the U.S. trade deficit constitutes a national emergency.

The White House announced it would take the case to the Supreme Court, asserting that 'unelected judges should not decide how to address a national emergency.' The lawsuit was filed by five companies importing goods from countries affected by Trump's tariffs.

Both parties have been ordered to respond by June 5 and June 9.
