In Sudan, 172 people have died within a week due to a cholera outbreak, as reported by the Ministry of Health. There have been 2,700 confirmed cases, but the actual number is likely much higher.

The outbreak is most severe in and around the capital, Khartoum, where 90% of the cases have been recorded. The region has been heavily affected by a two-year civil war, with recent drone attacks disrupting water and electricity supplies. The government blames the rebel group RSF for these attacks.

Cholera is a recurring issue in Sudan, but the ongoing conflict has exacerbated the crisis. Millions are displaced, and the lack of clean water and medical care has made the situation dire. The WHO warns that Sudan's healthcare system is at a breaking point.
