Tragic Fire at Massachusetts Senior Facility

A devastating fire at an assisted living complex in Fall River, Massachusetts has claimed nine lives and injured thirty people, with one victim in critical condition. The blaze broke out around 10:00 PM local time on July 14, 2025, sending residents scrambling for safety as thick smoke filled the building.

Desperate Rescue Efforts

Firefighters reported finding multiple residents hanging from windows attempting to escape the flames. Fifty firefighters battled the blaze while police officers forced doors and evacuated trapped seniors. Officers carried more than ten mobility-impaired residents to safety through smoke-filled corridors.

"Thank God was by my side," one rescued resident told The Boston Globe. The facility housed approximately seventy seniors requiring varying levels of assisted care.

Community in Mourning

Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey described the incident as a tragedy: "My heart goes out to those waking to horrific news about loved ones." Temporary housing has been arranged for survivors as investigators work to determine the fire's cause.
