A private plane crashed in a residential area of San Diego, resulting in at least two fatalities. Authorities have not confirmed whether all victims were passengers on the plane, as initially reported.

Five family members were hospitalized due to smoke inhalation, and another person was injured while attempting to escape through a window. Two others received on-site medical treatment for minor injuries.

The crash occurred around 4:00 AM local time in a neighborhood housing U.S. military families. The plane struck at least one home and several cars, prompting the evacuation of approximately 100 people. The aircraft had a capacity of eight to ten passengers, but the exact number aboard remains unknown.

Authorities described the scene as horrific, with lingering kerosene fumes and an uncontrollable car fire. Police Chief described the aftermath as "terrible," with fuel flooding the streets and multiple charred vehicles.

The plane departed from New Jersey en route to San Diego. The pilot reportedly requested a weather update before landing. The National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the incident.
