Over 50 Injured in Russian Drone Attacks on Kharkiv

Russian drone attacks on the Ukrainian city of Kharkiv have resulted in two fatalities and 54 injuries, including seven children, according to the city's mayor. The attacks occurred overnight, with 17 drones hitting two residential areas, causing fires and significant destruction.

The Ukrainian military reported that Russia launched 85 drones, 40 of which were intercepted by air defense systems. The aftermath of the attacks left apartment buildings ablaze, roofs destroyed, cars burned, and windows shattered. A 2-year-old girl and a 15-year-old boy were among those hospitalized due to their injuries.

Emergency services worked tirelessly throughout the night to extinguish fires and rescue residents. This attack follows one of the heaviest assaults on Ukraine earlier in the week, involving 315 drones and seven missiles, primarily targeting Kyiv.

The ongoing conflict, part of the broader Russo-Ukrainian War, has seen repeated attacks on civilian areas, drawing international condemnation. The war, which began in 2014, escalated into a full-scale invasion in 2022, resulting in widespread devastation and a refugee crisis.
