Amazon Web Services (AWS) has announced the independent governance structure for its AWS European Sovereign Cloud, including a dedicated Security Operations Center and a new parent company led by EU citizens. Kathrin Renz, AWS vice president, will serve as the first managing director.

The AWS European Sovereign Cloud, launching by the end of 2025, will offer full AWS capabilities while meeting stringent European sovereignty requirements. It will feature local leadership, independent governance, and autonomous operations within the EU.
