The constitutional court of Romania has dismissed a request to annul the results of the presidential elections. The far-right candidate George Simion had filed the appeal following his defeat.

Simion accused France and Moldova of interference. The court stated, 'After deliberation, the request to invalidate the elections was unanimously rejected as unfounded.' The court upheld the election results, which were deemed fair by the electoral commission and independent observers.

The pro-European liberal Nicusor Dan won the elections last Sunday. Simion, who had initially led in the first round, lost in the decisive second round to Dan, the mayor of Bucharest.

Simion later echoed claims by Telegram founder Pavel Durov, alleging French secret service interference, which France denied. Simion continues to label the court's decision as a 'coup.'
