A massive dust cloud from the Sahara has enveloped a large part of the Caribbean. Experts estimate the cloud to be as large as the United States, stretching over 2000 kilometers across the Caribbean Sea.

The dust is causing reduced visibility and health issues such as sneezing, coughing, and watery eyes. Authorities advise residents to wear masks due to poor air quality. In San Juan, Puerto Rico, a heat warning has been issued as the dust traps heat near the ground.

The dust cloud is expected to reach the southern US states later this week, including Florida, Texas, and Louisiana. Satellite images clearly show the dust's journey of over 8000 kilometers in just over a week.

While such dust clouds occur annually, they are rarely this large. The phenomenon may also create striking orange and red sunrises and sunsets.
