NXP Semiconductors has unveiled its new S32R47 imaging radar processors, designed for Level 2+ to 4 autonomous driving. The processors, built on 16 nm FinFET technology, offer twice the processing power of the previous generation while improving system cost and power efficiency. The S32R47 family meets ISO 26262 ASIL B(D) safety requirements and supports advanced autonomous driving features like detection of vulnerable road users and lost cargo.

According to Yole Intelligence, by 2029, 40% of vehicles will feature Level 2+/3 autonomy, with increasing adoption of Level 4. The S32R47 enables denser point cloud output and enhanced algorithms, improving object detection and classification. NXP's solution also reduces antenna channels by up to 89%, lowering system costs.
