Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, will start using public posts from these platforms to train its AI chatbot, Meta AI, starting May 27. The chatbot can generate text and images based on user prompts. Currently, Meta AI does not support Dutch, but the company aims to improve its understanding of European languages and cultures using this data.

Meta had initially planned this move a year ago but delayed it due to regulatory concerns. Users can opt out by submitting an objection form before the deadline. Critics argue that Meta should seek explicit consent rather than offering an opt-out option.
