Mexican Navy Sailing Ship Collides with Brooklyn Bridge, Two Dead

In New York, a sailing ship belonging to the Mexican navy collided with the famous Brooklyn Bridge during a promotional tour. The ship's masts hit the underside of the bridge and broke off.

Two crew members lost their lives, and nineteen others were injured, two of whom are in critical condition. The ship had approximately 280 people on board.

Videos of the incident circulated on social media, showing the ship with a large Mexican flag passing under the bridge before the masts partially collapsed. The ship then drifted to the edge of the East River, with bystanders fleeing the scene.

The Brooklyn Bridge, opened in 1883, is an iconic landmark connecting Manhattan and Brooklyn, used daily by over 100,000 vehicles and 32,000 pedestrians.

The Mexican navy confirmed that the Cuauhtemoc, a training vessel, sustained severe damage and can no longer sail. Authorities are assessing the condition of the crew and equipment.
