A curfew has been imposed in parts of downtown Los Angeles following days of protests against President Trump's immigration policies. The unrest escalated into riots, looting, and vandalism, prompting authorities to enforce the curfew from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM local time. The restricted area spans approximately 2.5 square kilometers.

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass stated that the curfew is necessary to curb the destruction and protect public safety. She anticipates extending the measure for several more days. According to CNN, 10 to 20 arrests have been made since the curfew began, with protesters reportedly leaving the area.

Overnight, 700 Marines arrived to join the National Guard already stationed in LA. Their primary mission is to secure federal buildings and properties. The curfew does not apply to residents, homeless individuals, emergency services, or authorized media personnel.

The unrest began after Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested 40 people in a series of unannounced raids. Demonstrators demand their release, and tensions flared further when President Trump deployed the National Guard. Over 4,100 reservists have been sent to LA, sparking criticism from California Governor Newsom, who accused Trump of exacerbating the situation.

In the past day, 197 arrests were made, including 67 for blocking highways.
