In Istanbul, delegations from Russia and Ukraine have reconvened to discuss a ceasefire. Last month, representatives from both countries met for the first time since the war began, resulting only in a prisoner exchange.

The Ukrainian delegation is led by Defense Minister Oemerov, while the Russian side is headed by Vladimir Medinski, a key advisor to President Putin. The talks are chaired by Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan.

Footage shows the delegations arriving at the negotiation venue, the Ciragan Palace, a historic building now housing a luxury hotel.

Expectations for progress in ending the three-year war remain low, as fighting continues unabated. Ukraine recently reported a surprise drone attack on five Russian airbases, while Russia launched its largest drone offensive since the invasion began in February 2022.
