The southeastern region of France experienced a significant power outage affecting around 160,000 households in the Alpes-Maritimes department. The Cannes Film Festival was also impacted.

The outage began around 10:00 AM and was resolved by 4:30 PM. Authorities suspect arson, with reports of sabotage at two different locations. Traffic lights and ATMs were non-functional, causing disruptions in Cannes and Antibes.

A film screening at the Cannes Film Festival was interrupted, but the closing ceremony proceeded as scheduled after power was restored.
