In the West Java province of Indonesia, several people have died following the collapse of a mine. Rescue teams managed to save some individuals trapped under the rubble. At least twelve people were injured.

Local media reports at least eight fatalities, while authorities confirm two deaths and eight missing persons. Search operations are ongoing.

The governor of West Java, Dedi Mulyadi, stated on social media that the mine was hazardous and "did not meet safety standards for workers."

Mining accidents are frequent in Indonesia. Last September, fifteen people died in a landslide at an illegal gold mine. Months earlier, a major accident on Sulawesi claimed 23 lives.
