"We are working as quickly as possible, but we must be extremely careful not to cause additional structural damage that could endanger both the trapped students and our rescue teams," said local emergency services coordinator Ahmad Rizal.
Timing of the Collapse
The tragedy occurred during prayer time when hundreds of students were present in the building. The collapsed section primarily housed boys aged 12-18, while girls were praying in a different part of the facility at the time of the incident. Three fatalities have been confirmed so far, with fears that the death toll could rise significantly.
