Former Royal Leaves Windsor Home as Epstein Fallout Continues

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, formerly known as Prince Andrew, has officially vacated his 30-room Royal Lodge mansion in Windsor and relocated to the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk, marking a dramatic fall from grace for the once-prominent royal. The move, which occurred on Monday night, comes amid mounting pressure from newly released Jeffrey Epstein documents and ongoing police investigations into sexual misconduct allegations.

Forced Eviction from Royal Residence

The relocation follows King Charles III's October announcement that Andrew would surrender his lease on the Crown Estate property "as soon as possible and practicable." This decision came after public outrage over Andrew's continued residence in the taxpayer-funded mansion despite his association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. 'This is a necessary step to protect the monarchy's reputation,' a palace insider told reporters anonymously. 'The King had to act decisively.'

Andrew is currently staying in temporary accommodation at Wood Farm on the Sandringham Estate while his permanent residence, Marsh Farm, undergoes renovations. Unlike Royal Lodge, which was funded by the Crown Estate, Andrew's new home will be paid for privately by King Charles from his personal wealth. The former prince is expected to move into Marsh Farm by early April.

Epstein Documents Fuel Renewed Scrutiny

The timing of Andrew's move coincides with the release of millions of pages of Epstein-related documents by the U.S. Department of Justice. These files contain photographs appearing to show Andrew crouching over a fully clothed person on the floor, with his hand placed on their abdomen. The documents also include email exchanges from 2010 where Epstein invited Andrew to meet a 26-year-old Russian woman described as "clever, beautiful, trustworthy," and Andrew suggested dinner at Buckingham Palace for privacy.

'These documents paint a disturbing picture of ongoing association long after Epstein's criminal activities were known,' said legal analyst Michael Cohen in an interview with CNN. 'They directly contradict Andrew's claims that he severed ties with Epstein in 2010.'

Police Investigations and Political Pressure

Thames Valley Police are currently reviewing new claims that a young woman was sent for a sexual encounter with Andrew at Royal Lodge in 2010. The woman, who was in her twenties at the time, alleges she was trafficked by Epstein to meet the former prince. Andrew has vehemently denied these allegations, as he has all accusations of sexual misconduct.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has called on Andrew to testify before U.S. Congress about his links to Epstein, marking a significant shift in political pressure. 'There are serious questions that need answering,' Starmer stated during a recent parliamentary session. 'The public deserves transparency.'

Royal Titles Stripped and Financial Arrangements

Andrew lost his military affiliations and royal patronages in 2022 and was stripped of his remaining royal styles and honors by King Charles in 2025. He now uses the name Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and no longer holds the title "His Royal Highness." According to CNN reports, Andrew will receive an income from King Charles but will no longer have access to public funds through the Sovereign Grant.

The former prince's daughters, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, have reportedly struggled with their father's situation but remain in contact with him. The wider royal family continues to distance itself from the scandal as it works to protect the institution's reputation.

As Andrew settles into his new, more modest accommodation, the Epstein scandal shows no signs of fading. With ongoing police investigations, political pressure for testimony, and the continuous release of damaging documents, the former prince's troubles appear far from over.
