New Resale Platform for Unused Tickets
Transavia France has launched an innovative ticket resale service allowing passengers to sell unwanted flight tickets. The service, developed in partnership with tech company Fairlyne, provides customers who cancel travel plans an opportunity to recoup costs.
How the Resale Process Works
Through resale.transavia.com, customers can check ticket eligibility (covering nearly all Transavia France tickets). The system displays the resale value, and users decide whether to proceed. Remarkably, the transaction occurs within Transavia's booking system, making the resale invisible to buyers.
Sales Categories and Payment
The platform features two resale types:
- Guaranteed Sale: For popular routes - payment processed within 72 hours
- Pending Resale: For less popular routes - notification upon successful sale
Tickets remain resellable until 12 hours before departure, and sellers can withdraw unsold tickets.
Operational Limitations
Currently, the service requires reselling all passengers in a booking together, though individual flight segments (outbound/return) may be sold separately. This maintains booking integrity while offering flexibility.
Strategic Benefits and Expansion
The system benefits both parties: passengers recover partial costs while Transavia resells seats profitably. Though currently exclusive to Transavia France (IATA: TO), airline representatives indicate potential expansion to other Air France-KLM group carriers if successful.
This initiative aligns with growing industry trends toward ticket flexibility, responding to increased passenger demand for changeable travel arrangements post-pandemic.
