High-Ranking Russian General Falls in Combat
General Mikhail Goedkov, deputy commander of Russia's Naval Infantry, has been confirmed killed during Ukrainian operations in Russia's Kursk border region. The 42-year-old officer died in combat yesterday according to Russia's Defense Ministry.

Goedkov represents one of the highest-ranking Russian officers eliminated since the conflict's inception. German press agency DPA reports his death brings total Russian general casualties to twelve. Military bloggers first reported the incident, indicating Goedkov perished alongside ten soldiers during an attack on their command center in Korenevo, approximately 20km from the Ukrainian border.

The governor of Russia's Primorsky Krai region, where Goedkov previously served, confirmed the general's death without providing operational details. Goedkov's marine unit deployed shortly after Russia's initial invasion of Ukraine. His presence in Kursk follows Ukraine's incursion into this border region last August.
