The American actor George Wendt, best known for his role as Norm Peterson in the popular TV series Cheers, has passed away at the age of 76. Wendt appeared in all 275 episodes of the show, which aired from 1982 to 1993. His character, Norm, was a beloved bar regular known for his humorous one-liners.
Wendt's family confirmed that he died peacefully in his sleep. He was nominated for an Emmy Award six times for his role in Cheers but never won. After the show ended, Wendt continued acting in guest roles, including appearances in Sabrina the Teenage Witch and animated shows like The Simpsons and Family Guy.
Wendt began his career with The Second City, a renowned improvisational comedy troupe in Chicago, where many famous comedians started. His nephew, Jason Sudeikis, also followed in his footsteps.
