Elsevier, a global leader in information and analytics, has announced the addition of half a million records from ClinicalTrials.gov to its biomedical literature database, Embase. This integration allows researchers to access clinical research studies alongside peer-reviewed literature, in-press publications, and conference abstracts. The move aims to streamline evidence searches, reduce errors, and improve efficiency in pharmaceutical and medical device research.

Clinical trials data is crucial for evidence-based decision-making, but gathering data from multiple sources is often time-consuming and error-prone. By integrating ClinicalTrials.gov data into Embase, researchers can now perform comprehensive searches within a single platform, ensuring no critical updates are missed. The data will be automatically indexed using Emtree vocabulary, enhancing accuracy and usability.

By late 2025, Embase will expand its coverage to include eligibility criteria and study plan information, further solidifying its role as a comprehensive biomedical research tool.
