In the United Kingdom, three Iranian men have been charged with espionage for Iran. The men, aged 39, 44, and 55, are set to appear in court in Westminster today.

The charges include involvement in activities that would assist a foreign intelligence service, which authorities identify as Iran. The 39-year-old is additionally accused of conducting surveillance and reconnaissance with the intent to commit serious violence in the UK.

The other two men are charged with participating in surveillance activities aimed at facilitating serious violence by others in the UK. Their arrests were made under the National Security Act, which allows detention without a warrant if there is reasonable suspicion of involvement in foreign power threats.

These arrests occurred on the same day as another unrelated counterterrorism operation involving five other Iranian men.
