Zelensky emphasized that surrendering territory violates Ukraine's constitution, stating in a video address: "No one can deviate from this. Ukrainians will not give their land to the occupier." The president's remarks directly counter reports that Putin would end the war if Ukraine cedes the Donbas region.

Diplomatic Developments

According to Wall Street Journal sources, Putin presented this proposal through U.S. diplomat Steve Witkoff during Wednesday's Moscow meeting. While Trump reportedly didn't view it as a breakthrough, he considered it sufficiently substantive to warrant Friday's meeting in Alaska.
