NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte has expressed confidence in 'broad support' for a substantial increase in defense spending among NATO allies. This comes ahead of the upcoming summit in The Hague next month. Rutte emphasized the need for higher defense expenditures to ensure military readiness, stating, 'Today we can defend ourselves, but in three to five years, we will have a problem.'

Rutte also highlighted Russia's rapid recovery and its ability to produce four times more ammunition than NATO, despite NATO's combined economy being 25 times larger. He stressed the importance of developing the defense industry to boost production.
