In the Australian state of New South Wales, tens of thousands of people are without power due to severe flooding. Authorities estimate that 32,000 residents are cut off from the outside world, with rescue workers struggling to reach them.

The death toll from the floods has risen to five, and hundreds of homes have been declared uninhabitable. In the past 24 hours, emergency services conducted 16 rescue operations for people endangered by the floods.

Helicopters have delivered essential supplies, such as livestock feed, to remote farms. While water levels have receded in most areas, emergency services warn of challenging weather conditions in the coming days.

The head of the state's rescue organization stated that efforts are now shifting to the recovery phase, focusing on damage assessments and cleanup operations.
