In a significant police operation in the Brussels district of Anderlecht, authorities have arrested multiple individuals linked to drug trafficking gangs. The operation, which involved 800 officers from across the country and a helicopter, targeted the notorious Peterbos neighborhood, a hub for drug-related crime.

According to reports from VRT, the operation was not tied to a specific case but aimed at disrupting the activities of drug gangs operating in the area. The Public Prosecutor's Office in Brussels coordinated the action, though details remain scarce pending further updates.

The Peterbos neighborhood has long been associated with drug trafficking, controlled by criminal organizations from Albania, Marseille, and the Mocro-maffia. Earlier this year, the area witnessed several shootings believed to stem from conflicts between rival gangs over stolen drug shipments. In February, a 54-year-old man was fatally shot in Peterbos, part of what local authorities described as a territorial gang war.

Last month, suspects were arrested in connection with a deadly shooting at Clemenceau metro station, highlighting the ongoing violence linked to drug trade disputes.
