Michelin-Starred Chef Accused of Physical and Psychological Abuse
Jean Imbert, one of France's most celebrated chefs with two Michelin-starred restaurants, is facing serious allegations of domestic violence from multiple former partners. Four women have come forward with accounts of physical and psychological abuse, with one filing an official police complaint and another claiming the chef broke her nose during their relationship.
Multiple Accusers Come Forward
The allegations against the 44-year-old chef first surfaced earlier this year when French magazine Elle published an extensive investigation featuring four women who described similar patterns of behavior. According to the report, Imbert allegedly engaged in systematic belittling, power manipulation, and extreme jealousy that escalated into physical violence.
"The women described consistent behavior patterns: demeaning comments, exerting control, and excessive jealousy," Elle reported. "If you say something he doesn't like, he explodes. He isolates you from family and friends."
High-Profile Accusers Speak Out
Former Miss France Alexandra Rosenfeld recently went public with her allegations, stating that Imbert broke her nose during their relationship in 2013-2014. She claims to have medical evidence supporting her claims. "He had me under his control, he despised me, he took away my self-confidence," Rosenfeld wrote on Instagram. "I spoke to people about it, but I was dismissed as the jealous ex."
Former actress Lila Salet has filed a formal police complaint alleging repeated physical violence during her relationship with Imbert in 2012-2013. She claims the chef locked her in a hotel room for several hours following an argument and that she initially withdrew a 2013 complaint out of concern for his career.
Legal Response and Denials
Imbert's legal team has vehemently denied all allegations, stating they can refute the claims with evidence and witness testimony. The lawyers pointed to social media posts where Salet previously described their relationship positively and suggested Rosenfeld had also been violent during their relationship.
The case has drawn attention to the broader issue of domestic violence in France's culinary industry, where high-pressure environments and celebrity status can sometimes shield perpetrators from accountability.

Imbert has risen to become one of France's most prominent culinary figures, operating Michelin-starred restaurants in Paris and Cannes while collaborating with international celebrities including Pharrell Williams and Robert De Niro. He also oversees the kitchen at The Brando, a luxury resort in French Polynesia.
The allegations represent a significant fall from grace for a chef who had become a regular feature at fashion weeks and high-profile events throughout France and internationally.
