Gartner Inc. predicts that by 2028, 80% of Generative AI (GenAI) business applications will be developed on existing data management platforms. This approach is expected to reduce complexity and delivery time by 50%. Prasad Pore, Sr Director Analyst at Gartner, emphasized the importance of integrating large language models (LLMs) with internal data and adopting technologies like vector search and metadata management. Retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) is highlighted as a key strategy for deploying GenAI applications, enhancing accuracy and explainability.

Key recommendations include evolving data management platforms to support RAG-as-a-service, prioritizing RAG technologies, and leveraging metadata for protection against malicious use and privacy issues.
