Uribe, a candidate for the upcoming presidential elections, was reportedly shot twice in the head and once in the knee. His wife stated on social media that he is currently 'fighting for his life.'

Uribe is a member of the conservative Centro Democrático party and a vocal critic of leftist President Gustavo Petro. The party condemned the attack as 'unacceptable violence.'

President Petro has ordered an investigation to identify those behind the attack. The U.S. has strongly condemned the assassination attempt, blaming 'violent leftist rhetoric.'
