A 14-year-old French student, who fatally stabbed an educational assistant at his school in Nogent on Tuesday, had planned to kill a random staff member. The teenager acted after receiving a reprimand on Friday for kissing his girlfriend on school grounds. The prosecutor revealed that the boy had devised the plan on Saturday, indifferent to the identity of his victim.
The 31-year-old assistant, who was not the one who reprimanded him, was helping with bag checks at the school entrance when she was attacked. The boy reportedly brought the largest knife from home, believing it would "cause the most damage."
According to the prosecutor, the teenager shows no signs of mental illness but is a fan of violent video games. During interrogation, he appeared detached and expressed no remorse for his actions.
School violence remains a pressing issue in France. In April, a girl was fatally stabbed at a school in Nantes, with three others injured. Prime Minister Bayrou has since called for stricter weapon checks on students, leading to random police inspections at schools.
