Violent Unrest Rocks French City
Over 100 masked rioters attacked vehicles with Molotov cocktails, stones, and baseball bats during overnight violence in Limoges. The clashes occurred around 1 AM on the RN141 highway near Val de l'Aurence district.
Police Targeted in Coordinated Attack
When officers responded, rioters pelted them with projectiles from the neighborhood, injuring ten police personnel. The Alliance Police Nationale union shared footage showing an officer and his children being attacked inside their vehicle, calling it a "miracle" no one died.
Organized Urban Warfare
Limoges' mayor condemned the premeditated violence as "urban guerrilla" tactics, stating: "They wish to destroy and demonstrate this territory belongs to them." Authorities confirm the attackers organized roadblocks specifically to ambush law enforcement and civilians.
Special Forces Deployed
France's Interior Ministry dispatched specialized riot control units following the clashes. This marks the second outbreak in Val de l'Aurence this month, with previous unrest occurring during Bastille Day celebrations on July 14. The neighborhood remains under heightened security surveillance.
