White House Rejects Trump's Alleged Epstein Birthday Note as Fake

The White House has firmly denied the authenticity of an alleged birthday message from former President Donald Trump to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, calling it a fabrication. The controversial note was part of a 238-page "birthday book" released by the House Oversight Committee containing messages from various high-profile figures to Epstein on his 50th birthday in 2003.

Content of the Disputed Message

The alleged Trump note features an imagined conversation between the two men, with the final line reading: "Happy Birthday - and may every day be another wonderful secret." The message includes a crude drawing of a woman's body and bears what appears to be Trump's signature.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated unequivocally: "President Trump did not draw this picture, and he did not sign it. This is clearly a fake document being used for political purposes."

Political Fallout and Legal Action

The release comes amid growing pressure on the Trump administration regarding Epstein-related documents. Trump had previously filed a $10 billion lawsuit against the Wall Street Journal and Rupert Murdoch after the newspaper first reported on the alleged note in July 2025.

Democratic Congressman Robert Garcia, ranking member on the Oversight Committee, accused Trump of lying about the note's existence. "Now we know that Donald Trump was lying and is doing everything he can to cover up the truth," Garcia stated.

Republican committee chairman James Comer countered that Democrats were "cherry-picking documents and politicizing information" from the Epstein estate.

Historical Context of Trump-Epstein Relationship

Trump and Epstein were known to be friends from the late 1980s until the early 2000s, with Trump flying on Epstein's private plane multiple times between 1993-1997 according to flight logs. The relationship soured around 2002 when Trump claimed Epstein "poached employees" from his Mar-a-Lago resort.

The birthday book was compiled by Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein's co-conspirator who was convicted in 2021 of sex trafficking. It contains messages from numerous prominent figures, including former UK Ambassador Lord Peter Mandelson, who called Epstein "my best pal" in his contribution.

Epstein died in prison in 2019 while awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges. The release of these documents follows years of pressure from victims and transparency advocates seeking full disclosure of Epstein's connections.
