Two dead and five injured in Swiss avalanche

Two skiers died and five were injured in an avalanche in Switzerland. The incident occurred near Lauterbrunnen, and the injured were airlifted to a hospital.

Two mountain climbers were killed in an avalanche in Switzerland. Five others were injured and transported to a hospital by helicopter.

The police in the canton of Bern received a report at 1:45 PM that an avalanche had descended on the western side of the Eiger mountain near Lauterbrunnen. Two groups of skiers were caught in the avalanche.

Rescuers managed to locate all skiers. The deceased are men who have not yet been identified. The injured include four men and one woman. The police have not disclosed their identities.
