GTA VI delayed by over a year

Grand Theft Auto VI has been delayed to May 2026, with Rockstar Games citing the need for additional development time to meet quality expectations.

The release of Grand Theft Auto VI, the highly anticipated game, has been postponed to May 26, 2026. Publisher Rockstar Games announced the delay on its website. Originally slated for release in the fall of this year, fans will now have to wait over a year longer.

Rockstar Games apologized in a statement: 'We are very sorry that this is later than you expected. With every game we release, our goal is to exceed your expectations, and Grand Theft Auto VI is no exception. We hope you understand that we need this extra time to deliver the quality level you expect and deserve.'

The game is set in the fictional Vice City, inspired by Miami. The trailer was released in December 2023, initially suggesting a 2025 release. Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar's parent company, later announced a fall 2024 release, which has now been pushed back.
