Weight-loss injection hailed as miracle cure for 'fat man of Europe', but dangerous on the black market

Weight-loss injections like Ozempic are helping many in the UK combat obesity, but illegal use poses serious health risks.

The medication, which mimics the body's natural GLP-1 hormone to signal fullness, is found in weight-loss injections like Ozempic, Wegovy, and Mounjaro. Sheila Hogen from Dunbar, Scotland, is one of half a million Britons who have used the drug. She lost 40 kg and saw her obesity-related health issues disappear.

However, the commercial market and black market for these drugs are booming, with many obtaining them illegally. Doctor Vicky Price from Liverpool warns of the dangers, including severe side effects from improper use.
