In Peru, an unknown individual used a spray can to draw a penis on a wall in Chan Chan, the former capital of the Chimu Empire (850-1470) and the largest city in North and South America before European arrival.

The vandalism occurred over the past weekend and was captured by surveillance cameras. The perpetrator, appearing to be a young man, has not yet been identified. He faces up to six years in prison.

The video of the act near Trujillo has circulated on social media. The Peruvian Ministry of Culture condemned the act as a "grave disrespect for our history and cultural heritage."
