No racist or radical motive found for Swedish school massacre

Police found no racist or radical motive behind the Swedish school shooting, suggesting mental health and financial issues may have driven the perpetrator.

The shooter who opened fire at a school in Sweden in February had no radical or racist views, according to police. The motive for the shooting in the city of Örebro remains unclear.

The 35-year-old perpetrator, Rickard Andersson, killed ten students and teachers at the adult education school on February 4 before taking his own life. Swedish Prime Minister Kristersson described it as "the worst shooting in the country's history."

Andersson was a former student of the school. A spokesperson described him as a recluse who legally owned four firearms. Police suggest mental health issues and financial troubles may have played a role, along with his suicidal intentions. The victims appeared to be chosen randomly.
