Blue Lion Supercomputer to Utilize NVIDIA Vera Rubin Architecture

The Blue Lion and Doudna supercomputers will run on NVIDIA's Vera Rubin architecture, marking a shift in high-performance computing with AI and real-time data processing.

Germany's Leibniz Supercomputing Centre (LRZ) is set to deploy the Blue Lion supercomputer, powered by NVIDIA's upcoming Vera Rubin architecture. This system will deliver 30x more computing power than its predecessor, SuperMUC-NG. Blue Lion, built by HPE, will feature next-generation HPE Cray technology and NVIDIA GPUs, with a focus on climate research, physics, and machine learning. The system will also reuse heat to warm nearby buildings.

Meanwhile, in the U.S., the Doudna supercomputer at Lawrence Berkeley National Lab will also run on Vera Rubin. Doudna is designed for real-time workflows in fusion energy and materials discovery, offering 10x more performance with improved energy efficiency.
