
An accident involving a bus in northern Malaysia has claimed the lives of at least fifteen people. Thirty-three others were injured, with seven in critical condition, according to emergency services.
The collision occurred when a bus carrying students collided with a car during the night for reasons still unknown. The bus overturned, and the car slid into a ditch.
Thirteen victims died at the scene, while two succumbed to their injuries in the hospital. Six people had to be cut free from the bus by rescue teams. Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar expressed his and his wife's deep sorrow over the incident in a Facebook post.
The crash happened near Gerik on a highway connecting the west and east coasts, a route notorious for frequent accidents, especially involving vehicles and animals.
