Deadly Russian Attack on Kyiv: Hundreds of Drones Deployed

In a devastating overnight assault, Russian forces targeted Ukraine, resulting in nine fatalities and multiple injuries. The majority of casualties occurred in the capital city of Kyiv, where six individuals lost their lives. According to reports from the Associated Press, residential areas and hospitals were struck by drones and missiles, with a five-story apartment complex in Kyiv collapsing under the attack.

Rescue Efforts Underway

Rescue teams are tirelessly searching through the rubble for survivors. Among the victims was a pregnant woman who was successfully rescued from a neighboring building. In Chernihiv, north of Kyiv, two more lives were claimed, while another fatality was reported in Bila Tserkva, southwest of the capital.

Zelensky Calls for Increased Pressure on Russia

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky revealed that Russia deployed 352 drones and 16 missiles during the attack. He emphasized the need for stronger international measures to halt these assaults, stating that some of the drones originated from Iran and ballistic missiles from North Korea. Zelensky is currently in London for discussions with Western allies before heading to the Netherlands for a NATO summit.

A Repeat of Tragedy

This attack follows another severe assault on Kyiv earlier this week, which claimed 28 lives—the deadliest attack on the city this year. Zelensky condemned these acts as "pure terrorism," and a national day of mourning was declared.
